Restless Legs Syndrome Blues

A Song by Bjorn Fredrickson

I've been making music with computer software for a long time. I became interested in the blues a couple of years ago, especially the traditional twelve bar blues style. Since I don't have the typical problems described in most blues songs (my baby done left me, ain't got no money and the rent is due, etc.) I went for my main issue, restless legs syndrome, which really does qualify as something to be blue about. So, I wrote this song. And I sang it, even though I'm not much of a singer. All the instruments are sampled instruments which I "played" within the software.

The name of this song sounds like a joke. It's not. I have RLS and the lyrics pretty much describe my life before I finally was put on a medication to control the symptoms.

Can't sleep
Got the creeps
In my legs in my arms
Can't sleep

Can't sleep
Got the creeps
In my legs in my arms
Can't sleep

Starts about a quarter to nine
Lets me be at a quarter to three
Can't sleep
Just can't sleep

Out of bed
And I head
Down the stairs
Walk around all night

Living room
Dining room
I just walk through the house
All night

Gotta keep moving
Gotta keep on moving til
A quarter to three
A quarter to three

Worn out
I'm so worn out
I'm dead tired
All day long
Couldn't sleep

Worn out
I'm so worn out
I can't take this any longer
Can't sleep

Got to take a nap you know
But the boss man he says, "No"
Worn out
I'm so worn out

Got the squirms
Toss and turn
Restless legs
It won't leave me alone

Got the squirms
Toss and turn
Every night all night long
All night

Restless legs syndrome
You say ain't no big thing
You don't know
Man you don't know
